J Anne Cole
My land surveying career over the past forty plus years included large and small surveys for resource industries, developers, individual owners and First Nations. It included a time working with the Ontario Land Registration system on the transition from paper to automated records, and in addressing boundary uncertainty under the Boundaries Act. I was both an Ontario Land Surveyor and a Canada Lands Surveyor. I have now retired these licences.
I am grateful for the experiences, the people, and for exploring Ontario. I am particularly grateful to people who taught me about surveying and supported my work, especially in the early years when there was not a line cut for young women. In particular I acknowledge Lorraine Gladstone Petzold, Harold Reade, and Doug Aron.
If I may encourage others to take up this career, I will be willing to do so.
